Description

This Stuffed Mushroom Dip is a creamy, savory appetizer perfect for sharing. Featuring sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and a blend of cream cheese, sour cream, and Parmesan, topped with a crispy Parmesan panko crust, it’s baked to golden perfection and ideal for parties or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dip:

  • 8 oz container of mushrooms, roughly chopped
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large scoop minced garlic (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Garlic herb seasoning, to taste

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 cup Italian panko bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Cook Mushrooms: Heat a medium to high heat pan and add the roughly chopped mushrooms along with 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter.
  2. Add Garlic: After cooking the mushrooms for a couple of minutes, add the minced garlic, tossing everything together thoroughly.
  3. Finish Sautéing: Continue cooking the mixture for another couple of minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant, then set aside to cool.
  4. Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded Parmesan cheese, and season with pepper and garlic herb seasoning to taste.
  5. Combine Mushroom Mixture: Mix the cooked mushrooms into the cream cheese mixture until well incorporated.
  6. Assemble Dip: Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan and pour the combined mushroom-cheese mixture evenly into it.
  7. Prepare Topping: In a small bowl, mix the Italian panko bread crumbs with the grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Add Topping: Sprinkle the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture evenly over the top of the dip in the pan.
  9. Drizzle Butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the breadcrumb topping for extra crispiness and flavor.
  10. Bake and Broil: Bake the dip in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 12 minutes, then switch to broil and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until the topping is golden brown, watching closely to prevent burning.
  11. Serve: Remove from oven and enjoy warm as a delicious appetizer with bread, crackers, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Make sure to soften the cream cheese before mixing to ensure a smooth dip.
  • Watch closely during the broiling step to prevent the toppings from burning.
  • This dip can be served with crackers, toasted bread, or fresh veggies.
  • You can prepare the mushroom mixture ahead and store in the fridge before assembling and baking.
  • Use fresh mushrooms for best flavor, but canned mushrooms can be a substitute if drained well.
