Description

This Steak & Shrimp Noodles recipe offers a delicious surf and turf stir-fry experience with tender flank steak, juicy shrimp, and vibrant vegetables tossed with rice noodles in a savory Asian-inspired sauce. Quick and easy to prepare, it’s perfect for a flavorful weeknight dinner that combines protein-rich ingredients with fresh vegetables and a mouthwatering blend of soy, oyster, and hoisin sauces.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles
  • 1/2 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup snap peas or broccoli florets
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • A splash of water

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Optional: sesame seeds and lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Noodles: Cook the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside to keep warm while you prepare the other components.
  2. Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and a splash of water. Stir to blend well and set aside to allow flavors to meld.
  3. Prep the Steak: In a separate bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak with the cornstarch and a pinch of salt. This helps to tenderize the meat and create a light coating when cooked.
  4. Cook the Steak: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the steak slices and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they turn pink and are just cooked through. Remove shrimp and set aside with the steak.
  6. Stir-Fry Vegetables and Aromatics: If needed, add a bit more oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the minced garlic, grated ginger, sliced red bell pepper, and snap peas or broccoli florets for about 2 to 3 minutes until they are just tender but still crisp.
  7. Combine and Toss: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and pour the prepared sauce over everything. Toss thoroughly to combine and heat through evenly.
  8. Serve and Garnish: Divide the stir-fry among plates or bowls. Garnish with sliced green onions, optional sesame seeds, and lime wedges for an added fresh zing. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Substitute rice noodles with udon or spaghetti noodles if not available.
  • Add chili flakes or sriracha for a spicier kick.
  • For extra flavor depth, drizzle a little extra hoisin or soy sauce before serving.
