Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Batter
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp mint extract
Decoration
- Green sprinkles (optional for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish to ensure the brownies do not stick.
- Melt Butter and Cocoa: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter and unsweetened cocoa powder together, stirring until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Add Sugar and Eggs: Stir in the granulated sugar until well incorporated into the chocolate mixture. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly before adding the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition to create a smooth batter.
- Mix Flour and Mint: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and mint extract. Gently fold this dry mixture into the chocolate batter until just combined, being careful not to overmix to keep the brownies tender.
- Bake the Brownies: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and Decorate: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, cut into 16 squares and optionally decorate the top with green sprinkles for a festive St. Patrick’s Day touch.
Notes
- Using room temperature eggs helps the batter mix more evenly.
- Do not overbake to ensure brownies remain moist and fudgy.
- For a stronger mint flavor, you can increase mint extract slightly, but be careful as it can overpower.
- Green sprinkles add festive color but are optional.
- Use a toothpick to test doneness rather than relying strictly on time.
