Description

This creamy Spinach Artichoke Dip is a classic appetizer that’s perfect for parties and gatherings. Made with a blend of tender spinach, tangy artichoke hearts, and three kinds of cheese, including Parmesan and mozzarella, this baked dip is rich, flavorful, and easy to prepare. Serve hot and bubbly with chips, crackers, or fresh veggies for a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 (10 oz) package frozen spinach, thawed and drained
  • 1 (14 oz) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Dairy and Condiments

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or cream cheese for a richer dip)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Seasonings

  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for sautéing fresh spinach)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet to prevent the dip from sticking.
  2. Prepare Spinach: If using frozen spinach, thaw it completely and squeeze out excess moisture to avoid a watery dip. If using fresh spinach, sauté it briefly in olive oil until wilted, about 2-3 minutes, then drain and chop.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the prepared spinach, chopped artichoke hearts, sour cream, mayonnaise or cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes if desired. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Stir until evenly mixed.
  4. Assemble and Bake: Transfer the mixture into the greased baking dish and smooth the surface. Optionally sprinkle extra mozzarella or Parmesan cheese on top for more cheesy flavor. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and the cheese topping turns golden brown.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes to thicken slightly. Serve warm with tortilla chips, toasted bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables like carrots and celery for dipping.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute mayonnaise with cream cheese.
  • Ensure spinach is well-drained to prevent the dip from becoming watery.
  • Adding extra cheese on top creates a delicious golden crust.
  • You can adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference or omit them entirely.
  • This dip can be prepared a day ahead and reheated before serving.
