Description

These Mushroom Swiss Sliders combine juicy ground beef, sautéed mushrooms and onions, and melted Swiss cheese, all nestled inside sweet King’s Hawaiian rolls. Topped with buttery toasted buns and a sprinkle of sesame seeds, these sliders offer a perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors, ideal for parties or family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Slider Ingredients

  • 12 King’s Hawaiian Original Rolls
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 8 oz sliced white mushrooms
  • ½ white onion, diced
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • Sesame seeds for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat mixture: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix everything thoroughly until just combined.
  2. Cook the beef patty: Press the meat mixture evenly into the bottom of a 10 x 6-inch baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes until cooked through. Once done, carefully drain any excess liquid and transfer the meat patty to a bed of paper towels to remove remaining moisture.
  3. Sauté mushrooms and onions: While the meat cooks, heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and diced onions, cooking for 6-8 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions are translucent and mushrooms are tender. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Slice the Hawaiian rolls: Using a serrated bread knife, carefully slice the entire batch of Hawaiian rolls horizontally into two equal halves, creating a top and bottom layer without separating the individual rolls.
  5. Assemble the sliders: Place the cooked beef patty on the bottom half of the rolls. Evenly spread the sautéed mushroom and onion mixture over the meat. Layer the Swiss cheese slices on top.
  6. Prepare the tops: Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in a small bowl. Use a silicone brush to coat the tops of the rolls with the melted butter, then sprinkle sesame seeds over the top for garnish.
  7. Bake the sliders: Place the assembled sliders in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted completely and the buns turn golden brown and toasted. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute white mushrooms for cremini or baby bella mushrooms for a deeper flavor.
  • To make these sliders spicier, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or some chopped jalapeños to the mushroom mixture.
  • Make sure to press the ground beef firmly in the pan to create an even patty layer for easy serving.
  • Using King’s Hawaiian rolls adds a deliciously sweet contrast to the savory sliders, but any soft dinner rolls will work.
  • For extra flavor, melt the butter with a little garlic powder before brushing on the buns.
