Ingredients
Scale
Cookies
- 1 batch of sugar cookies (about 24 cookies)
Icing
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Decorations
- 24 large marshmallows
- Black decorating gel
- Orange decorating gel or mini orange candies (for noses)
- Mini chocolate chips or candy eyes
- Colored sprinkles or candy scarves (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Cookies: Bake the sugar cookies according to your favorite recipe or use store-bought dough. Allow them to cool completely before decorating to prevent the icing from melting.
- Make Icing: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. The icing should be thick but spreadable for easy application.
- Apply Icing: Spoon a small amount of icing onto the center of each cookie and gently spread it outward in an uneven, “melting” shape to mimic melting snow.
- Add Marshmallow Snowman Heads: Place one large marshmallow on each iced cookie to serve as the snowman’s head. For a melted effect, you can microwave marshmallows for 5–7 seconds to soften slightly before placing.
- Decorate Faces: Use black decorating gel to draw eyes and a mouth on the marshmallow. Add an orange nose using orange decorating gel or mini orange candies.
- Add Final Decorations: Use mini chocolate chips, candy eyes, colored sprinkles, or candy scarves to create buttons, scarves, or arms on the cookie to bring your snowman to life.
- Set Decorations: Allow the icing and decorations to set for 30–60 minutes before serving to ensure everything stays in place.
Notes
- To achieve a melted marshmallow look, microwave marshmallows for 5–7 seconds before placing them on the cookies.
- These cookies are ideal for holiday parties, classroom treats, or fun kids’ baking activities.
