Description

A quick and delicious Lasagna Flatbread recipe combining creamy ricotta, savory sausage in marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella on crispy flatbread for an easy homemade meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Mixture

  • 1 (15-ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (half of an 8-ounce package)
  • 1 (3-ounce) package Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

Sausage Mixture

  • 1 pound sausage
  • ½ (26-ounce) jar marinara sauce

Other

  • 6 flatbreads
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (remaining half)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the flatbreads.
  2. Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, egg, and Italian seasoning. Stir until well blended to create a creamy, flavorful mixture.
  3. Cook Sausage: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until no longer pink, approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Drain any excess grease, then stir in the marinara sauce to combine the flavors.
  4. Assemble Flatbreads: Lay the flatbreads on a baking sheet. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over each one. Top with the sausage and marinara mixture, and then sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella on top.
  5. Bake: Place the assembled flatbreads in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Remove the flatbreads from the oven and serve hot. Enjoy your quick and tasty lasagna-inspired flatbreads!

Notes

  • You can substitute Italian seasoning with a blend of dried basil, oregano, and thyme if preferred.
  • Feel free to use turkey sausage or a plant-based sausage alternative for a lighter or vegetarian option.
  • To make the dish gluten-free, use gluten-free flatbreads.
  • Leftover flatbreads can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated in the oven for best texture.
