Description

Homemade Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks are a deliciously easy appetizer featuring soft pizza dough topped with a flavorful garlic butter mix and a gooey blend of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Perfectly baked until golden and bubbly, these breadsticks make an ideal snack or accompaniment to your favorite marinara sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

Garlic Butter Topping

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Cheese

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Serving

  • Marinara sauce (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Shape the Dough. Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle or oval shape about ½ inch thick and place it evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Make Garlic Butter Mixture. In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, minced garlic, and garlic powder, mixing thoroughly to infuse the butter with rich garlic flavor.
  4. Brush Dough with Garlic Butter. Evenly brush the garlic butter mixture all over the surface of the rolled-out dough to ensure every bite is flavorful.
  5. Add Cheese and Seasoning. Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with salt and, if using, chopped fresh parsley for a fresh herbal note.
  6. Bake the Breadsticks. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
  7. Cool and Slice. Remove the breadsticks from the oven, allow them to cool for a couple of minutes, then slice into individual breadsticks.
  8. Serve. Enjoy the warm cheesy garlic breadsticks with marinara sauce on the side for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • You can use pre-made pizza dough for convenience or your preferred homemade dough recipe.
  • Add crushed red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning to the garlic butter mixture for an extra kick of flavor.
  • For a crispier crust, bake the breadsticks directly on a pizza stone instead of a baking sheet.
