Perfect for an elegant weeknight dinner or a special occasion, it delivers a decadent flavor with minimal effort.
Ingredients
Scale
Gnocchi
- 1 lb potato gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1–2 teaspoons truffle oil (to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Garnish
- Extra shaved Parmesan
- Chopped parsley
Instructions
- Cook the gnocchi: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potato gnocchi and cook according to package directions until they float to the top, which usually takes about 2–3 minutes. Once they float, drain them carefully and set aside.
- Prepare the sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté it for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned, infusing the butter with aroma.
- Simmer the cream: Pour the heavy cream into the skillet and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and burning.
- Add Parmesan cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese gradually, cooking the sauce for 2–3 minutes until it becomes smooth, slightly thickened, and creamy.
- Combine gnocchi and sauce: Reduce the heat to low, then add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet. Gently toss the gnocchi in the sauce to ensure each piece is well-coated.
- Finish with truffle oil and seasoning: Drizzle in 1 teaspoon of truffle oil, stir to combine, then taste and add more truffle oil if desired. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper according to your preference.
- Serve and garnish: Plate the gnocchi immediately, garnishing with extra shaved Parmesan and freshly chopped parsley for added flavor and a pop of color.
Notes
- Start with 1 teaspoon of truffle oil and add more gradually, as truffle oil has a strong flavor that can overpower the dish.
- For a crispy texture, you can pan-sear the cooked gnocchi in a little butter before tossing them in the sauce.
- This dish pairs beautifully with a light green salad or roasted vegetables to balance the richness.
