Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- ½ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (or neutral oil)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup chopped fresh strawberries
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp strawberry puree (from about 2–3 strawberries)
- ½–1 tbsp milk, if needed for consistency
- A pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 6-cavity donut pan to prevent sticking.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
- Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in the chopped fresh strawberries gently.
- Bring batter together: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined; be careful not to overmix to keep the donuts light and fluffy.
- Fill donut pan: Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
- Bake the donuts: Bake for 10–12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
- Cool the donuts: Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the glaze: Puree fresh strawberries and mix with powdered sugar and milk until smooth; add a pinch of salt if desired and adjust consistency with milk as needed.
- Glaze the donuts: Dip the cooled donuts into the strawberry glaze and let them set on the wire rack.
- Serve and store: Serve the glazed strawberry donuts immediately or store them in an airtight container for later enjoyment.
Notes
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the texture fluffy and tender.
- You can substitute dairy milk with almond, soy, or oat milk as preferred.
- The glaze consistency can be adjusted by adding more or less milk.
- Store donuts in a sealed container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
