Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water and dry yeast. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes, or until it becomes bubbly and foamy, indicating that the yeast is active.
- Mix wet ingredients: To the yeast mixture, add the sugar, sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and salt. Stir well to incorporate all the ingredients evenly.
- Add flour: Gradually add the all-purpose flour into the wet mixture, a little at a time, stirring as you go until the dough starts to come together. You may need to add a bit more flour to reach the right consistency.
- Knead the dough: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky. Add flour sparingly as needed to prevent the dough from sticking to your hands or the surface.
- First rise: Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel or cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the dough: Punch down the risen dough to release the air. Shape it into a loaf and place it into a greased loaf pan, ensuring it is evenly spread.
- Second rise: Let the shaped dough rise again for 30 minutes or until it puffs up noticeably.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for 25 to 30 minutes, until the top turns golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped at the bottom, indicating it’s fully baked.
- Cool and serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Ensure the water is warm, not hot, to properly activate the yeast without killing it.
- Adding flour gradually helps control dough consistency and prevents it from becoming too dry.
- The dough should be slightly tacky but not sticky after kneading.
- You can brush the top of the loaf with melted butter after baking for extra softness and shine.
- Store the bread in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to 3 days.
