Description

This Easy Sweet Condensed Milk Bread is a soft, tender loaf that combines the subtle sweetness of condensed milk with a fluffy, homemade texture. Perfect for breakfast or tea time, this bread is simple to make with basic pantry ingredients and yields a delightfully sweet and aromatic bread that’s satisfying and comforting.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water and dry yeast. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes, or until it becomes bubbly and foamy, indicating that the yeast is active.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: To the yeast mixture, add the sugar, sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and salt. Stir well to incorporate all the ingredients evenly.
  3. Add flour: Gradually add the all-purpose flour into the wet mixture, a little at a time, stirring as you go until the dough starts to come together. You may need to add a bit more flour to reach the right consistency.
  4. Knead the dough: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky. Add flour sparingly as needed to prevent the dough from sticking to your hands or the surface.
  5. First rise: Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel or cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Shape the dough: Punch down the risen dough to release the air. Shape it into a loaf and place it into a greased loaf pan, ensuring it is evenly spread.
  7. Second rise: Let the shaped dough rise again for 30 minutes or until it puffs up noticeably.
  8. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for 25 to 30 minutes, until the top turns golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped at the bottom, indicating it’s fully baked.
  9. Cool and serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the water is warm, not hot, to properly activate the yeast without killing it.
  • Adding flour gradually helps control dough consistency and prevents it from becoming too dry.
  • The dough should be slightly tacky but not sticky after kneading.
  • You can brush the top of the loaf with melted butter after baking for extra softness and shine.
  • Store the bread in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to 3 days.
