Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip, thawed
- 1 package (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Optional Toppings
- Crushed nuts
- Sprinkles
- Shredded coconut
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate: In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between each interval until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted. Let the melted chocolate cool slightly to avoid melting the other ingredients.
- Combine with Cool Whip: Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip into the melted chocolate until fully combined and fluffy, ensuring an even and smooth texture.
- Add Flavorings: Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor of the mixture.
- Add Powdered Sugar: Gradually sift in the powdered sugar, stirring continuously until a thick dough-like mixture forms, making sure it is evenly mixed and smooth.
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper for easy removal. Press the candy mixture evenly into the pan to form a flat layer.
- Apply Toppings (Optional): If desired, sprinkle your choice of crushed nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut over the surface and gently press them into the candy to secure.
- Chill the Candy: Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until the candy is firm and set.
- Serve: Once set, remove the candy from the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into 16 squares and serve chilled.
Notes
- Store the candy in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 1 month for longer storage.
- For a fun twist, try using flavored chocolate chips such as mint or white chocolate chips to create variations in flavor.
