Ingredients
Scale
Pastry
- 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry, thawed
Filling
- 1/2 cup chocolate chip cookie dough (homemade or store-bought)
Egg Wash
- 1 egg, beaten
Optional Toppings
- Extra chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Roll and Cut Puff Pastry: Lightly flour a clean surface and gently roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to smooth any creases. Cut the pastry into 4 equal rectangles for individual crookies.
- Add Filling: Place about 2 tablespoons of chocolate chip cookie dough in the center of each puff pastry rectangle.
- Shape Pastry: Fold and shape each rectangle around the cookie dough into a crescent or roll shape. Seal the edges by pinching or tucking them underneath to enclose the dough securely.
- Prepare for Baking: Arrange the shaped crookies on the prepared baking sheet. Beat the egg and brush it over the tops to give them a beautiful golden finish. Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips or flaky sea salt on top for added flavor and texture.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20–22 minutes until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed up beautifully.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the crookies to cool slightly before serving. The centers will remain deliciously gooey and warm.
Notes
- If the dough becomes too soft during shaping, chill the assembled crookies in the refrigerator for 10 minutes before baking to help maintain their shape.
- For a croissant-style version, cut the puff pastry into triangles and roll the cookie dough inside each triangle.
- These crookies are best enjoyed warm for the gooey center and flaky pastry experience.
