Description

Classic Ambrosia Salad is a refreshing and sweet fruit salad featuring a creamy mixture of whipped topping and Greek yogurt combined with a medley of tropical and citrus fruits, marshmallows, and shredded coconut. Perfect for potlucks, picnics, or a light dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Dressing

  • 8 ounces whipped topping
  • ½ cup full-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • â…› teaspoon nutmeg

Fruit and Mix-ins

  • 2 cups mini colored marshmallows
  • 1 15-ounce can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 11-ounce can mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, cut in half (stems removed and drained)
  • 1 cup green grapes, halved
  • ½ cup sweetened shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dressing: In a large mixing bowl, combine the whipped topping, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are fully blended and smooth.
  2. Add fruits and mix-ins: Gently fold in the mini colored marshmallows, pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, halved maraschino cherries, halved green grapes, and shredded coconut, ensuring even distribution without breaking the fruit.
  3. Chill and serve: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to allow flavors to meld and the salad to chill. Serve cold as a refreshing dessert or side dish.

Notes

  • For best texture, drain canned fruits well to prevent the salad from becoming watery.
  • Use mini marshmallows to ensure even distribution and better texture.
  • Can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated to enhance flavors.
  • Substitute maple syrup with honey or agave syrup if desired for sweetness variation.
