Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Vegetables
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thinly sliced)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
- 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
- 1 small onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Assembly
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
- Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced chicken breasts and season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is no longer pink and lightly browned.
- Add the vegetables: Incorporate the sliced green and red bell peppers and thinly sliced onion into the skillet. Continue cooking for another 5–7 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the chicken is fully cooked. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and cook for an additional minute to meld the flavors.
- Prepare the hoagie rolls: Preheat the oven broiler. Slice the hoagie rolls open lengthwise and place them open-faced on a baking sheet. Optionally toast the rolls beforehand for extra texture.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Fill each hoagie roll with the warm chicken and veggie mixture. Top each with two slices of provolone cheese.
- Melt the cheese: Broil the assembled sandwiches under the oven broiler for 1–2 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve the sandwiches hot for the best flavor and texture experience.
Notes
- For enhanced flavor, toast the hoagie rolls before assembling the sandwiches.
- Feel free to substitute provolone cheese with mozzarella or pepper jack for a different cheese profile.
