Ingredients
Scale
Sausage Mixture
- 1 pound ground pork sausage (spicy or mild)
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies (such as Rotel), undrained
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Garnish (optional)
- Chopped green onions or cilantro
Instructions
- Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground pork sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease from the skillet if necessary.
- Melt the Cream Cheese: Reduce the heat to low and add the softened cream cheese to the cooked sausage. Stir continuously until the cream cheese is fully melted and thoroughly combined with the sausage.
- Add Remaining Ingredients: Stir in the undrained diced tomatoes with green chilies, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and onion powder. Continue stirring until the cheddar cheese melts and the dip is hot and bubbly throughout.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or keep it warm in a slow cooker set to low or warm. Garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro, if desired. Serve warm alongside tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
- To keep the dip warm during a party, transfer it to a slow cooker on the warm setting.
- For a spicier dip, use hot sausage or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Substitute pepper jack cheese for cheddar for extra heat and flavor.
