Description

Delight in these rich and fudgy Cheesecake Brownies featuring a luscious marbled topping of creamy cheesecake swirled into decadent chocolate brownie layers. Perfectly balanced between dense chocolate and smooth cream cheese, this American classic dessert is great for any occasion and easy to make with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

For the brownie layer:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the cheesecake layer:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the brownie batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined. Gently stir in the unsweetened cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and salt until just combined without overmixing.
  3. Spread the brownie layer: Pour the prepared brownie batter into the lined baking pan, spreading it evenly across the surface to create a smooth layer.
  4. Prepare the cheesecake layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no lumps.
  5. Add and swirl the cheesecake layer: Drop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture evenly over the brownie batter. Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl the two layers together in a marbled pattern without fully blending.
  6. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into 9 squares. Chill if desired for cleaner slices.

Notes

  • For an extra-rich variation, stir chocolate chips into the brownie batter before spreading.
  • Chill the brownies prior to cutting to achieve cleaner, neater slices.
  • Store any leftover brownies in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
