Description

A deliciously crisp and melty Turkey Melt on sourdough bread, layered with sharp cheddar cheese, savory cooked bacon, and tender turkey breast. Enhanced with a tangy mayo and Dijon mustard spread, this sandwich is pan-grilled to golden perfection for a satisfying, warm meal perfect for lunch or a quick dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Spread

  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Fillings

  • 4 ounces turkey breast
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices cooked bacon
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread with spreads: Spread the mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread, then spread the Dijon mustard on top of the mayonnaise on one slice.
  2. Add the cheddar cheese: Place the slices of cheddar cheese on the mustard-coated slice, ensuring even coverage.
  3. Layer the bacon: Arrange the cooked bacon slices evenly on top of the cheddar cheese layer.
  4. Add the turkey: Layer the 4 ounces of turkey breast over the bacon, spreading it evenly and sprinkling with black pepper.
  5. Assemble the sandwich: Place the second slice of sourdough bread on top, mayo side facing inward to enclose the fillings.
  6. Heat the skillet: Warm a skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
  7. Melt the butter: Add the tablespoon of butter and allow it to coat the surface of the pan.
  8. Cook the sandwich side one: Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Flip and cook side two: Carefully turn the sandwich over and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes to brown the other side and melt the cheese inside.
  10. Press the sandwich: Use a spatula to gently press down on the sandwich while cooking to help it crisp evenly and enhance melting.
  11. Remove and rest: Once both sides are golden and the cheese has melted fully, remove the sandwich from the pan.
  12. Slice and serve: Let the sandwich rest on a cutting board for one minute, then cut in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use cooked bacon to save time; cook bacon beforehand until crispy.
  • Adjust the amount of Dijon mustard according to your taste preference for tanginess.
  • Pressing the sandwich lightly while cooking helps even browning and melts the cheese thoroughly.
  • Use medium heat to prevent the bread from burning before the cheese melts.
  • Letting the sandwich rest after cooking allows the fillings to set and reduces spillage when cutting.
  • This sandwich pairs well with a side salad or chips for a complete meal.
