Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 pound bulk sausage
- 1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
- 2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese (or cheddar for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the crescent rolls.
- Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bulk sausage until it’s browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease and set the sausage aside to cool slightly.
- Prepare Crescent Roll Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles. Lay these flat on a clean working surface.
- Fill and Roll: Place a small amount of the cooked sausage and shredded cheese on the wide end of each dough triangle. Roll each triangle tightly from the wide end towards the pointed tip, fully encasing the filling within the dough.
- Arrange in Baking Dish: Place the stuffed crescent rolls seam-side down in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Arrange them snugly without overlapping excessively.
- Add Extra Cheese (Optional): Sprinkle some additional shredded cheese over the tops of the crescent rolls if you desire a gooey, cheesy topping.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, until the crescent rolls are golden brown on top and the cheese inside has melted thoroughly.
- Cool and Serve: Let the rolls cool for about 5 minutes after baking. Serve warm for a delicious breakfast, brunch, or savory snack.
Notes
- You can substitute cheddar cheese for mozzarella if you prefer a sharper flavor.
- Make sure to drain excess grease from the cooked sausage to prevent soggy dough.
- For a spicier twist, add some crushed red pepper flakes to the sausage while cooking.
- These rolls can be reheated in the oven or microwave for leftovers.
- To make cleanup easier, line the baking dish with parchment paper or use non-stick spray.
