Ingredients
Scale
Biscuits & Filling
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated flaky biscuits
- 3/4 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
Butter Topping
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Au Jus
- 1 packet (1 oz) au jus gravy mix
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- Preheat and Sauté Onions: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil and sauté the thinly sliced onions until they become soft and golden, about 5 minutes. Once done, set them aside to cool slightly.
- Prepare Biscuits and Fill: Slightly flatten each refrigerated biscuit. Place a few slices of the deli roast beef and a spoonful of the sautéed onions in the center of each biscuit. Sprinkle some shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese over the filling.
- Seal Biscuits: Carefully fold the biscuit dough around the filling, pinching the edges tightly to seal the contents inside. Place each sealed biscuit seam-side down in a greased baking dish to keep them secure while baking.
- Apply Butter Topping: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter with garlic powder, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of each biscuit to promote browning and add flavor.
- Bake Biscuits: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare Au Jus Dip: While the biscuits are baking, prepare the au jus by whisking the gravy mix with 3 cups of water in a saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat, cooking until the mixture slightly thickens and flavors meld, then keep warm.
- Serve: Remove the baked biscuits from the oven and serve them warm alongside the au jus dip for dipping. Enjoy these flavorful and comforting French dip biscuits as an appetizer or main meal.
