- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- ½ cup shredded carrots
- 3 green onions, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Tacos
- 1 package wonton wrappers
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Sweet chili sauce, for serving
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the skillet: Preheat a large skillet over medium heat to prepare for cooking the chicken mixture.
- Cook the chicken mixture: Add ground chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger to the skillet. Stir to combine.
- Brown the chicken: Cook the chicken mixture, breaking it up with a spoon, until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Add vegetables: Add shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, and chopped green onions to the skillet.
- Season: Season the mixture with salt and pepper to your taste.
- Cook vegetables: Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are slightly softened but still crisp.
- Heat oil for frying: In a separate skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat to prepare for frying the wonton wrappers.
- Fill wonton wrappers: Place a small spoonful of the chicken and vegetable mixture onto the center of each wonton wrapper.
- Shape tacos: Fold the wrapper in half to create a taco shape and press the edges firmly to seal them closed.
- Fry the tacos: Fry the filled wonton wrappers in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Drain excess oil: Remove the fried tacos from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Repeat frying: Continue filling and frying the remaining wonton wrappers with the chicken mixture until all are cooked.
- Serve: Serve the Asian Chicken Wonton Tacos hot with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
- Garnish: Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves before serving for added aroma and color.
Notes
- To ensure the wonton tacos stay crispy, do not overcrowd the pan while frying.
- You can substitute ground chicken with ground turkey or pork if desired.
- For a spicier kick, add a dash of sriracha or chili flakes to the chicken mixture.
- Wonton wrappers can be purchased fresh or frozen; thaw frozen wrappers before use.
- If you prefer a lighter version, try baking the filled wonton tacos at 375°F for 8-10 minutes instead of frying.
