Description
Crispy and golden Air Fryer French Fries made with simple ingredients and a quick cooking process. These fries are soaked to remove excess starch, lightly seasoned with salt and oil, and cooked to perfection in an air fryer for a healthier alternative to deep-fried potatoes.
Ingredients
Scale
Potatoes
- 1 pound russet potatoes
Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon oil (avocado or olive)
- ½ – ¾ teaspoon salt (to taste)
Instructions
- Cut the Potatoes: Heat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for at least 3 minutes. Cut the potatoes into long strips about 4-6 inches in length, ½ inch wide, and ¼ inch thick to create evenly sized fries.
- Soak in Water: Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cool water and soak for 20-30 minutes. This step removes excess starch, which helps the fries become crispy. After soaking, drain the water and thoroughly dry the potatoes with a dish towel to prevent sogginess.
- Season the Fries: Transfer the dried fries to a large bowl. Drizzle with the oil and sprinkle the salt over them. Toss well to ensure the fries are evenly coated with oil and seasoning.
- Cook in Air Fryer: Arrange the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring no fries touch the sides or overlap. If your air fryer is 6-quart, cook in two batches for best results. Cook for 12 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through the cooking time. For extra crispy or larger fries, shake the basket and air fry for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Serve: Serve your delicious air fryer French fries hot with ketchup, mayonnaise, Sriracha Mayo, or homemade Remoulade Sauce. Enjoy your healthier, crispy fries!
Notes
- Soaking the potatoes is essential for achieving crispy fries.
- Make sure to dry fries well before seasoning to avoid sogginess.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking.
- Adjust salt to your taste preference.
- Oil choice can be avocado or olive for a healthy fat option.
- Cook in batches if necessary to maintain single layer cooking.
