Main Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados, halved and pitted
- 4 small eggs
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons shredded cheese (optional)
- Chopped fresh herbs or red pepper flakes for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the avocados.
- Prepare avocados: Carefully scoop out a small amount of flesh from the center of each avocado half to create enough room to hold an egg without overflow. This also helps the egg cook evenly.
- Position avocados: Place the avocado halves upright in the air fryer basket or a heat-safe dish that fits inside the air fryer. Stability is key to preventing spills, so you can use ramekins or foil nests if needed.
- Add eggs: Crack one egg into each avocado cavity. If the egg white is too much and risks overflowing, gently discard a little to fit within the avocado.
- Season: Sprinkle each filled avocado with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika to enhance flavor.
- Air fry: Cook in the air fryer for 10 to 14 minutes depending on preferred egg yolk doneness—10 minutes for a runny yolk and 14 minutes for fully set.
- Add cheese: During the last 2 minutes of air frying, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top if using, allowing it to melt perfectly.
- Finish and serve: Carefully remove the avocado eggs from the air fryer. Garnish with fresh herbs or red pepper flakes as desired. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Use smaller eggs to prevent overflowing when cracking into avocado halves.
- Stabilize the avocado halves in the air fryer basket using ramekins or foil nests for even cooking and to avoid spills.
- Enhance flavor by adding toppings like crumbled bacon, salsa, or hot sauce after cooking.
